Magnetostrictive Fe83Ga17 wires 0.6mm in diameter were prepared successfully by directional solidification, heat swaging and drawing. The <100> crystallographic texture was developed after recrystallization annealing. A large Wiedemann twist up to 245′′/cm was observed in annealed wires. The large Wiedemann twist could be attributed to the large magnetostriction of 160ppm. The texture provides an important basis for the large Wiedemann twist and magnetostriction. Magnetic force microscopy observation result shows that the morphology of the magnetic domain is dendritic and lamellar.
